John Resor
President of Shooting Star and Associate Broker

John was the founder of and has been the president of Shooting Star from its inception in 2002. Since receiving master plan approval in 2006, Shooting Star has designed, built, and sold all its developer real estate and has a full membership with a growing waiting list to join the Club.

From 2015 through 2019, John was the top producing broker in Teton County, leading all brokers in annual sales volume. He was also the leading broker in Teton County in 2001 and again in 2007, when he was named one of the top 20 real estate sales professionals in the country by Real Trends and the Wall Street Journal. Shooting Star’s sales team, as ranked by Real Trends in the Small Teams category, has led Teton County in sales volume in 2020, 2021, and 2023 and was ranked 10th and 47th in the country in 2020 and 2023.

From 1995 to 2003, John was president of Granite Ridge which developed homes slope side to the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. In 1991, he founded JH Ski Management and engineered a four-party transaction that ended five years of litigation and brought new ownership to the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. From 1992 to 1995, he served as president of the Resort.

John received a B.A. from Williams College, a J.D. from Case Western Reserve Law School, where he was editor and chief of the law review, and an M.B.A. from the Yale School of Management. He has served on several boards, including St. John’s Hospital and the Teton County School District. During his tenures, he helped oversee the financing and construction of St. John’s Hospital and Nursing Home, St. John’s Professional Office Building, the Wilson Elementary School, and the Jackson Hole High School. John and his wife, Kitty, currently sit on the board of City Kids Wilderness Project.
